There is also the Caravan Park for the budget conscious who want to camp out.

The route on Saturday will see us head though Geelong, Torquay, Anglesea, then on to Lorne for lunch.  After lunch, we’ll head to Apollo Bay where everyone can check into their hotels, and then either meet again for a sprint to Tanybryn via Skeens Creek Road (approx 45 mins) or travel further on to enjoy the best section of one of the greatest Roads in the World.  Visit the 12 Apostles, and for the adventurous continue to Port Campbell and the Bay of Islands http://www.totaltravel.com.au/travel/vic/greatoceanroad/appollobay/photos or just relax and take it easy for the rest of the afternoon.

DINNER & TRIVIA: Apollo Bay Hotel - Cranbrook Room 6:30pm 95 Great Ocean Road Apollo Bay

SUNDAY EARLY MORNING: Lighthouse run. For those of you who missed it last year, now’s your chance to try one of the best roads in the area.  (60Km – approx 1 hour).  Time TBC at Saturday night’s dinner.

For the rest of the day we’ve got several options planned for your enjoyment.  We would have liked to cram them all in, but there’s just not enough time.

OPTION #1: Visit the Otway Fly.  Take the Great Ocean Road to Laver’s Hill (an amazing drive on its own), then continue on towards Gellibrand.  About halfway between Laver’s Hill and Gellibrand is the Otway Fly.  The Otway Fly is a 600 metre long 25 metre high elevated tree top walk.  The tree top walk ascends at a gentle grade through a magnificent stand of cool temperate rainforest featuring Myrtle Beech, Blackwood and Mountain Ash.  For the “thrill seeker” a 45 metre high lookout is ascended via a spiral stairway through the understorey to emerge amongst the crowns of the giants of the forest.

The Otway Fly is approximately 1 hours drive from Apollo Bay.  From the Fly, the quickest way back to Melbourne is via Gellibrand and Colac then along the Princes Highway.

More information can be found at www.otwayfly.com.au.

OPTION #2: Back to Melbourne the long, twisty way.  Drive to Lorne, then turnoff towards Winchelsea via Dean’s Marsh.  This is a sensational stretch of road for bringing out the best in your MR2.  From Winchelsea, follow the Princes Highway back to Melbourne.

WHAT TO BRING:
Two way radios are a marvelous accessory on such a trip - the VIC Club uses UHF radios as standard.  If you haven't got one of these, I'd strongly suggest getting one before the GOR.  Dick Smith, Tandy and Strathfield Car Radio sell the Uniden models which seem pretty good.
